Revisiting childhood therapy

This study is interested in understanding how young adults reflect on the therapy they received as children after experiencing maltreatment.

We are seeking young adults to take part in important but sensitive research into the lived-experience of victim-survivors of childhood maltreatment. It's a big ask but your insights on this challenging issue can help.

If you have attended mental health sessions, your experience will throw light on how people perceive mental health services after experiencing maltreatment as a child. This research will explore whether you found support helpful at the time, if you felt any benefits that have lasted into adulthood, and what could improve mental health care for children today.

Share your perspectives in a 1-hour interview, either online or in-person. Your preference can be organised once you get in touch with the researchers. As a thank you from us, you will receive a gift card for your time.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • any person aged 20 – 30
  • anyone who has experienced childhood maltreatment such as: physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and/or exposure to domestic violence
  • anyone who as a result of childhood maltreatment, saw a psychologist as a child in a service such as a public hospital, CAMHS or private psychology clinic
