ACU Co-Lab is pleased to announce Master of Education student Avantha Jayasinghe as the recipient of the $10,000 ACU Co-Lab Business Incubator Award 2025.
Avantha participated in the rigorous eight-week ACU Business Incubator Series. Drawing on his personal migration experience, he and his co-founders have developed Revise Education - an innovative social enterprise addressing one of the most significant barriers migrants face in Australia: English proficiency testing.
Expensive English test preparation often stands between migrants and their chances of safety, stability and opportunity in Australia. Through their AI-powered learning platform, Revise PTE, the venture is making high-quality test preparation affordable, personalised and accessible to those who need it most.
The platform offers instant feedback, personalised study plans and real PTE (Pearson Test of English) scoring simulations - features typically only available through costly coaching services.
The venture collaborates with community organisations, training centres and universities to ensure migrants, particularly those from conflict-affected or low-income backgrounds, can access the support they need to succeed. Currently launching in Australia, Revise Education has ambitious plans to make high-quality learning borderless and inclusive for every learner starting a new chapter.
Gayendra Wijesekera, Santhoshan Rajendran and Avantha Jayasinghe, co-founders of Revise Education, are bringing AI-powered educational innovation to Australia's migrant community through lived experience and technical expertise.
The team developed Revise Education through the ACU Business Incubator Series, transforming their personal migration experiences and expertise in education and AI into a scalable social enterprise. Their deep understanding of the challenges faced by migrants has shaped Revise Education into a truly community-focused solution.
"This award holds deep meaning because it validates the mission of Revise Education and the migrants we serve," says Avantha. "As someone who is personally in the trenches in the migrant community, I know how a single English test can stand between a person and their chance at safety, stability and opportunity.
"This award will help us bring an affordable, high-impact solution to market more quickly and move us closer to our vision of making high-quality learning borderless, accessible and life-changing for every learner embarking on a new chapter."
As participants in the Business Incubator Series, the team credits the program with providing crucial support in transforming an early idea into a structured, scalable social enterprise.
"The Business Incubator Series played a key role in shaping my business model and building my confidence as a founder," says Avantha. "It helped me clearly define the social problem Revise Education wants to solve: the lack of affordable, high-quality English test preparation for migrants, which often limits their access to visas, education and jobs in Australia.
"The program helped me improve our theory of change, understand our stakeholders and test our solution. Support from mentors and peers strengthened our mission and helped turn Revise Education from an early idea into a structured, scalable social enterprise."
The Business Incubator Series 2025 showcased an impressive range of ventures addressing real challenges with innovative, sustainable solutions. We're continually inspired by the entrepreneurial talent and social commitment within our community.
Thank you to all participants for your hard work, creativity and determination to build ventures that matter. You represent the best of what purpose-driven entrepreneurship can achieve.
