How to make the most of O Week as an international student

Orientation, sometimes called 'O Week' is a free program of activities to help you get ready to study as student at ACU.

Running one week before the commencement of classes, O Week is your official introduction to ACU and is your chance to become acquainted with everything ACU has to offer – your course, your campus and its culture, and other important services and programs you may not have been aware of.

With O Week just around the corner, here is our must-do list of activities to ensure you start your ACU journey on the front foot.

  • Attend the ‘Essential Information Session for International Students’. As its name suggests, this session is especially for new international students and will give you useful information about the support and services available to you. You’ll meet your International Student Adviser, have an opportunity to ask questions and start building your networks at ACU.
  • Take a campus tour. This is a great way to get your bearings, learn where all your classrooms are and discover the best study and hang out spots on campus.
  • Attend your course introduction and Q&A session. This is where you’ll learn the specifics about your course and meet key contacts like your course coordinator.
  • Attend support services information session. As a student, you’ll have access to a range of support services to help you succeed both within the classroom, and outside of it. We highly recommend attending the Ask ACU, academic support and life outside the classroom information sessions to learn more.
  • Get involved. O Week is the perfect opportunity to experience campus life for yourself. There will be dozens of stalls and stands where you can learn about and sign up to a selection of the many student clubs, societies and associations available on campus. Whether you are into politics, kayaking or debating there is a club for you. Many clubs and societies often host social events and activities during O Week. These events are an amazing way to meet new people and start building your networks at ACU.
  • Make the most of free food. Whether it is free pancakes, snow cones or barbecues, there’s always something to keep your energy up.

Visit the Orientation website for more information about O Week.
