Excitement and optimism marks O week as students welcomed back to campus

More than 4500 new students were welcomed to ACU’s seven campuses this week for vibrant Orientation Week festivities.

Colourful bursts of ACU’s purple and red signage gave way to excitement, optimism and hope mixed with the sizzle of sausages and loud music.

ACU Vice-Chancellor and President Zlatko Skrbis said it was very exciting to reconnect with students and welcome them back to campus for first semester as COVID-19 restrictions, which applied in most of Australia, ease.

“We are excited to welcome our commencing and continuing students to ACU and ACU Online in 2022 and offer a particular welcome to our international students who we are glad to have back,” Professor Skrbis said.

“As a university, we are very committed to welcoming students back on our campuses as we want them to have yet again a full student experience. We are looking forward to the year ahead with great hope and optimism.”

Professor Skrbis said all ACU campuses were open post COVID-19 restrictions with 77 per cent of classes on campus for Semester 1.

“As we reactivate our campuses, we want to do this responsibly and safely and to do this each and every one of us plays a part,” he said.

“ACU is a wonderful place to experience friendship, diversity and the power of new ideas. We have missed our students and seeing our campuses buzzing with people is very exciting.”
