Students cap off study with momentous graduation season

Thousands of ACU students across our campuses are marking the end of their most recent education journey with the commencement of the 2022 graduation season.

Graduating students from ACU’s seven campuses are being honoured for their extraordinary achievements in studying for a university degree through a global pandemic, devastating floods, and geopolitical instability.

Graduation ceremonies were held in Ballarat this week, and will continue in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney through to May.

Graduation masses are also being held in the cathedrals of Ballarat and Canberra and extended to graduands and their families and friends.

ACU Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Zlatko Skrbis congratulated the students for persevering through a disruptive couple of years.

“The past two years have no doubt left an indelible mark on all of our graduating students for 2022,” Professor Skrbis said.

“Universities have always been places for people to gather, to connect and to collaborate. The past two years have taken the physical connection to a virtual connection, which has affected our students' personal university experience, one of the most formative times in a person's life.

“To reach the end of their university journey during such difficult circumstances is testimony to the calibre of all our graduating students.

“I’m incredibly proud of our students for rising above all the challenges of 2020 and beyond with resilience, sheer determination, and ambition. What you have faced and conquered will prepare you for a prosperous future.”

ACU’s 2022 graduates will automatically join the ACU Alumni Network, a growing worldwide community of more than 125,000 people.

Graduates can also join ACU Alumni Connect, an online social platform connecting former students with career advancement opportunities, a volunteering portal, and exclusive news and benefits for alumni.

ACU’s graduation ceremonies are live streamed for those who are not able to attend a ceremony in person. Find out about the live stream details here.
