Educational Leaders and the project of professionalisation in early childhood education in Australia

The research lead by Professor Joce Nuttall, Director of the Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education, has identified that Australian early childhood Educational Leaders’ work is motivated by the professionalisation of their workforce. Published in International Journal of Education Research, the article provides an analysis of interviews with educational leaders from Darwin and Melbourne showing that this 'project of professionalisation' subsumes the international quality agenda. New knowledge from the research shows that policy assumptions overlook processes supporting professionalisation.
