About
Mark is a Darkinjung man with over 13 years’ experience in the community and human services sector. Holding a Bachelor of Social Work, a Diploma of Disability studies and a Postgraduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma, Mark brings a culturally informed, and academic foundation to his practice, complimented by experience in a range of complex roles. Throughout his career, Mark has worked supporting children with disabilities, residential care, conducting functional assessments and evidence based early intervention for Aboriginal children with developmental delays, Aboriginal out-of-home care case management and worked in the NT's child protection system.
Mark is the Acting Operations Manager for the First Nations Family Response and Engagement Team at Children Youth and Families in the ACT. Mark is a dedicated child protection practitioner with experience in developing and implementing culturally-informed and trauma-informed approaches to child protection practice with a thorough understanding of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and systemic disadvantage that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have experienced.
Mark has a commitment to equity, safety and healing with a strong emphasis on social justice and relational practice to ensure that children and families are supported in ways that are respectful, empowering and responsive to their lived experience.
