Associate Professor Gert-Jan Pepping

Associate Professor Gert-Jan Pepping joined ACU in 2014 and is the Deputy Head for the School of Behavioural and Sport Sciences at the Brisbane Campus.

He studied movement sciences at the Free University in Amsterdam before completing his PhD in the area of perceptuo-motor control/sport psychology at the University of Birmingham, UK.

Dr Pepping has over 20 years of international experience working in academia as well as doing research in sports medicine and working with sports teams in the UK, the Netherlands and Australia.

His academic interests and expertise are in the enhancement of decision-making skill in high performance sport and exercise. He examines the social, emotional, neuropsychological, neurophysiological and perceptuo-motor processes for decision-making in sport and exercise. Insights gained through his research are important for sport science support, coaching, training, team selection, and team development, but also for sport participation, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and the identification and development of sport talent.
