Australians are invited to participate in a special livestream event on 2 August: The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice: A Dialogue for Students.

02 August 2023

5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

ACU has partnered with The Australian National University to participate in the event. The livestream will connect students from partner universities across Australia for an in-depth dialogue about the upcoming Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice Referendum.

Presented by the ANU First Nations Portfolio, the main event will be held on Ngambri and Ngunnawal land, Llewellyn Hall at ANU in Canberra. A panel of guest speakers will cover diverse perspectives regarding the referendum.

The panel will be moderated by Professor Mark Kenny and will cover key issues and points of contention relating to the referendum and respond directly to questions from students.

Guest speakers include:

  • Senator Jana Stewart, Labor Senator for Victoria
  • Senator Andrew Bragg, Liberal Senator for NSW
  • Dean Parkin - Director, From the Heart
  • Sally Scales - Partnership Manager, Uluru Statement from the Heart
  • Professor Megan Davis, Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous UNSW and Co-Chair Uluru Statement from the Heart

The dialogue is a unique and important opportunity to hear from Australia’s national student body as we prepare for one of the most crucial referendums in our history.
