Details

Date

12 October 2022

Designing and launching a successful new business model is every entrepreneur’s dream, but no one wants to devote months to research and planning. The Business Model Canvas is a fantastic tool for capturing your ideas and to consider alternative design options, in a quick, fun and interactive process.

This webinar will introduce you to the canvas and guide you through the first design phase of your disability business idea. You will learn from Verge Collaborative director Nat Ellis, who has assisted hundreds of new entrepreneurs to design their businesses from the ground up and hear about the journey that some of those entrepreneurs have taken to get to where they are now.

What you will learn:

Why business modelling beats writing lengthy business plans.
How to design and visualise your business model.
Why constant adaptation is critical to business survival.
How to stay motivated through the early stages of business change.
Key topics: Overview and rapid trial of the Business Model Canvas with real or case study options, the evolution of business models and how to prepare detailed business model hypothesis briefs.

Guests: Existing entrepreneurs from the disability sector.

Outcomes: You will become familiar with the Business Model Canvas tool and learn how to complete a BMC for either your own business or business idea, or a case study business.. This session will prepare you for the upcoming workshops, where you will be taught how to complete a more detailed hypothesis brief and hear from entrepreneurs about how their business models have changed since they first launched and the importance of iteration and adaptability.

Attendees of this workshop will be awarded a digital badge.

NOTE: Should you require any support services to make the session more accessible, please contact tayana.grundy@acu.edu.au.
