Participate Australia Student Support Workers

Participate Australia is a respected disability support organisation in Sydney. Supporting over 600 NDIS participants, Participate Australia provides person-centred supports to people with disability, in individual and group settings.

Participate Australia takes a rights-based approach to disability supports, offering flexible and tailored services to help participants achieve their goals. Participate Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of SydWest Multicultural Services, a leading community organisation for cultural diversity issues responding to community needs and opportunities throughout Greater Western Sydney, supporting newly arrived refugees and migrants.

The role

Student Placement positions (Student Support Workers) will work in group settings alongside experienced disability support workers. Students Support Workers will be expected to engage with people with a disability in various centre-based and community-based activities.

Student Support Workers will:

• read and understand the person’s individualised support plans to ensure safe and tailored supports;
• work within a team of support workers, including reporting to a Senior Support Worker;
• follow WHS protocols.

During these activities, Student Support workers will not be required to provide any one-to-one support, personal care or high-intensity supports.
