Carevan Blacktown serves those battling hardship and disadvantage of all kind; social and financial hardship, loneliness and isolation principal among these.

Carevan provides a free weekly meal service in the Lalor Park Community Centre Hall, ever Tuesday evening. We create a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental setting, run by a team of diligent volunteers. There is no criteria for attendance and all are welcome. The community come together to share a meal, access grocery items, clothing, household goods and much more but most importantly, to connect with each other and with a community that cares for them.

The Role

Students will be assisting with the meal service which includes: setting up the hall for service, assistance in preparing the evening meal, serving plates of food and takeaways. Students will also be sorting, packing and distributing food and grocery hampers, clothing and household items. Students will also be talking with, listening to and engaging with the patrons.

  • Tuesday evening between 6:30-9pm
  • Lalor Park Community Centre 1 Freeman St, Lalor Park
