This opportunity runs in partnership with the ACU & Order of Malta Mobile Community Hub and Preston North East Primary School (PNEPS).
In 2025, PNEPS successfully applied for a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden grant open to schools with a low ICSEA value (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage). The grant supports schools in empowering students to grow, harvest, prepare and share food.
The role
ACU students will work in small groups with primary school students from diverse backgrounds. In this supporting role, ACU students will be expected to coach and assist students to complete garden activities as instructed by the teacher.
At Preston North East Primary School over 50% of students speak English as a second language. In addition, data identifies that 1 in 2 students receives government funding as a result of poverty.
ACU students must demonstrate their commitment to the inclusion, wellbeing, dignity, and success of people from disadvantaged and/or marginalised communities.
