To be accepted into the ACU Exchange or Study Abroad Programs you must meet the following requirements:

Academic requirements

Students from all over the world can apply; you just need to:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have completed one full year of study at university level with satisfactory grades (equivalent to 2.5 U.S GPA)
  • Postgraduate students: have successfully completed the equivalent of an Australian Bachelors Degree.

English language requirements

To enrol in a Study Abroad or Exchange program, you must also meet the English language proficiency requirements. You will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency if:

  • English is not your first language
  • You do not attend university where the language of instruction is English in an approved English-speaking country.

You can prove your English proficiency by providing us with evidence of your previous studies or qualifications, or by achieving a certain score in a relevant English language test.

For undergraduate study:

  • One year, full-time study where the medium was English at university or high-school level, equivalent to 60ECTS
  • IELTS: 6.0; 6.0 in Writing and Speaking and 5.5 in Reading and Listening
  • TOEFL iBT: 60; 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking, 8 in Reading and 7 in Listening

For postgraduate study:

  • IELTS: 6.5; 6.0 in all sections
  • TOEFL IBT: 79; 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking, 13 in Reading and 12 in Listening

Note: Students wishing to enrol in academic units within Law, Health Science and Teacher Education courses may be required to have a higher level of English proficiency as per the English requirements noted in the corresponding degree program.


Choose your semester units

Select at least six units you would like to study at your preferred campus. While you will enrol in only 3-4 units per semester, we recommend having additional units pre-approved as backups in case any changes arise.

Application deadlines

Students are required to submit applications by the deadlines below and allow time to obtain a student visa.

Semester 1 (February to July): apply by 15 November
Semester 2 (July to November): apply by 15 May


Tuition fees

Study Abroad Program

The Study Abroad tuition fee for undergraduate and postgraduate students depends on your credit point (CP) enrolment load. Your semester tuition fee covers study costs with us but does not include flights, accommodation, transport, visa, living expenses, or textbooks.

Exchange Program

Exchange students are not required to pay fees to ACU. Any tuition fees are paid directly to your home university.
