Taking a break

Not all families have the luxury of a yearly holiday, but that doesn’t mean their kids have to miss out. Edmund Rice Camps work to provide a holiday experience for young people experiencing disadvantage and ACU Business students are helping them out.

Sydney Marketing student Ella McNulty explains, “Being around children has always been fun for me, and I have always wanted to volunteer to help them. The 105 hours of community engagement volunteer placement as part of my degree was the push I needed in the right direction to get me started. I think it’s great that this is incorporated into my degree because it opens our eyes to another aspect of life as well as broadening my skills when joining the workforce. Volunteering is a fantastic way to make you appreciate what you have and be more generous with helping others.

The practical component of my degree provides two valuable opportunities for work placements – community engagement and professional experience in a marketing organisation - which will give me an edge when I graduate.”
