Following the successful launch of ACU’s Law program in Melbourne in 2013 the inaugural class of Law students commenced at the North Sydney campus in mid-February. They were immediately engaged with legal concepts and case law, as well as that distinctive feature of ACU Law - Mooting – during the Law Induction Program.
Professor Brian Fitzgerald believes that by offering Law in both our Melbourne and Sydney campuses ACU will strengthen the reputation of the university as a provider of high quality professional programs.
He observed that the dedicated space for the Law Collection in the main Library with its specialist Law Librarian Susan Shrubb and the purpose designed Moot Court, will make an important contribution to our aim “to offer students a highly personalised and supportive learning environment. We will strive to provide them with a solid knowledge of the Law as well as an understanding of the needs of our wider community, particularly through the Pro Bono program, while equipping students to build fulfilling careers in an increasingly dynamic global environment."
"ACU's Law degrees have a practical focus delivered in the context of the core values underpinning the University including social justice, human dignity and respect, ethical practice and advancing the common good. A unique aspect of all of our Law degrees is the requirement for our students to undertake pro bono legal work from second year onwards" he said.
