How to enter?

  1. Entry to the competition is through submitting the online entry form.
  2. Complete all fields on the online form. Ensure you enter all your details, including a valid email address. All notifications will be communicated to your email address. This includes an invitation to attend the exhibition opening and prize-giving night.
  3. Have your photographs ready to upload. Max 5 MB.
  4. Submit your photograph into the competition. Your entry must speak to the theme.
  5. You must include a title and description (of 50 words or less) for your photo you upload. Complete these sections when submitting the online form.

You should submit an online entry form only once – an automatic email will be sent to your email address confirming submission.

A game of skill is a competition where the outcome is determined by skill (e.g., writing a slogan, answering a question, submitting a photo), not chance. This means there's no random draw-a judge or panel selects the winner based on merit.

1. Eligibility

  • Open to high school students aged 14-19 residents of Nepal.
  • Entrants must be currently enrolled in a secondary school in these countries at the time of submission.
  • Only individual entries are accepted.
  • Limited to one entry per person
  • Entrants under 18 years require consent of their parent or legal guardian, with confirmation and potential verification by ACU before prize awarding or publication. The method for verifying authenticity of consent may include submission of a signed consent form, uploading a copy of the parent or guardian's ID, and/or a confirmation call conducted by an ACU representative or staff member.
  • All entries that depict recognisable people, especially minors, must be accompanied by a release form (PDF). This release must confirm that the photographer has obtained permission from the subject (or the subject's parent/guardian if under 18) for the use of the image in accordance with the usage rights outlined in Section 4. Submissions without a valid consent form may be disqualified. Please find the release form here (PDF).
  • To ensure eligibility, ACU reserves the right to verify winners by requesting proof of age, school enrolment status, and residency. Failure to provide acceptable documentation within a specified timeframe may result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.

2. Submission Guidelines

  • Each participant may submit one (1) original photograph.
  • Images must be in JPEG or PNG format, no larger than 10MB each.
  • Entries must be submitted via the official Pixel Prize landing page.
  • You must be the original photographer and hold full copyright to the image you submit. Images that have been digitally altered, purchased, or sourced from third parties are not eligible and will be disqualified.
  • Entries must be submitted with the promotional code provided to each individual.
  • All entries that depict recognisable people, especially minors, must be accompanied by a signed release form. This release must confirm that the photographer has obtained permission from the subject (or the subject's parent/guardian if under 18) for the use of the image in accordance with the usage rights outlined in Section 4. Submissions without a valid consent form may be disqualified.
  • Each submission must include:
    • Caption/story (max 100 words)
    • Participant's full name, age, school name, and country.
    • Signed model release form if applicable.

3. Judging and Prizes

  • Entries will be judged by a panel formed by members of the ACU Global Engagement team and invited guests, based on:
    • Creativity
    • Relevance to theme
    • Technical quality.
  • Winners will be announced on the ACU website and social media.
  • Winners will be contacted by ACU by email and/or phone.
  • Prizes will be awarded with support from Austrade (Sri Lanka and Kenya) and local agents (Nepal).
  • To claim the prize, winners under the age of 18 must submit a consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian. ACU reserves the right to request parental consent and to verify its authenticity if deemed necessary.

4. Copyright and Usage Rights

  • Entrants must own the copyright of the image they enter.
  • Entrants retain full copyright of their images.
  • By entering, participants grant ACU a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted images for:
    • Promotional materials
    • Social media
    • Educational publications
    • ACU website.
  • ACU will credit the photographer wherever possible.
  • ACU may adjust, alter or adapt the image as it sees fit to suit publication.
  • By entering in this Competition, you:
    • grant to ACU an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide and transferrable licence to use, copy, modify, adapt, make derivative works of and reproduce any content and materials (Materials) provided as part of your entry for promotion, marketing or publicity purposes; and
    • unconditionally and irrevocably consent to any act or omission that would otherwise infringe any of your moral rights in the Materials and waive all moral rights in the Materials.

5. Disqualification

  • Entries may be disqualified if contain manipulated content. Including images generated by AI.
  • ACU may disqualify and exclude any Eligible Entrant or any and all entries if ACU considers, in its absolute discretion that:
    • the Eligible Entrant has breached any part of these Terms, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any improper conduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper operation of the Competition; or
    • any entry is offensive, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, vulgar, inappropriate, or threatens, intimidates or harasses any person, includes or is suspected of including or breaching any third party rights including intellectual property rights, incites or is capable of encouraging conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, damaging to the goodwill or reputation of ACU.

6. Privacy

  • Entrants consent to collection and use of their personal information when they submit an entry into the 2025 Pixel Competition.
  • The competition subject to ACU's Privacy Policy, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and applicable global laws.
  • Full name, age, school name, country, email address and submitted photographs and captions required. Parent/guardian information also required for U18 entries.
  • Providing information is optional, but without school-verifiable details, entry may not be possible.
  • Information may be shared with Austrade/agents for the awarding of prizes and promotion.
  • Entrants' name, age, and school may be published on ACU's website and social media.
  • The signature provided will be used solely to verify that the entrant has obtained parental or guardian consent. It will not be used for any other purpose and will be permanently deleted from our records upon the conclusion of the competition.
  • No other disclosures will occur unless legally required or with your consent.
  • Information will stored securely until prizes are awarded; limited information will be kept afterward - refer Privacy Collection Notice on entry page.

7. Agreement

  • By entering the competition, entrants accept the Competition Terms of the Pixel Prize Photography Competition 2025.
  • Where the entrant is under 18, parents/guardians must accept the Competition Terms on their child's behalf by ticking the box on the U18 Parental Consent section of the entry form.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction:
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this competition shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Queensland, Australia.
