The academic discipline of Christian spirituality studies the lived experience of Christian faith. In Rome this experience can be traced back almost two thousand years.

This study tour offers you the opportunity to study Christian Spirituality in Rome through a two-week intensive unit.

Postgraduate students

Students studying the Master of Theological Studies or Master of Professional Studies in Theology will need to enrol in THEL620 Special Studies in Theology A: Spirituality in the Catholic Tradition (10cp) and THEL640 Special Studies in Theology B: Spirituality in the Catholic Tradition (10cp).

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students should enrol in THEL300 Theology Special Study 1 (10cp) and THEL301 Theology Special Study 2 (10cp).

Students enrolled in other ACU programs may be eligible to take the tour for course credit. Please consult your course rules or course coordinator.

Audit participants

A limited number of places are also available for individuals who wish to participate in the unit in an audit capacity. If you are interested in taking part in this study tour as an audit student, please contact Dr Josephine Laffin directly.

Tour cost, including accommodation at the Rome Centre and incidentals (most meals, airport transfers, scheduled group excursions/site visits) is $2,900.

Please note, unit fees are applicable upon enrolment.

In order to allow for maximum flexibility and to minimise your costs, you will need to reserve your own flight. You might choose to arrive in Rome earlier than the unit begins and/or to depart later. However, you will be required to arrive at the Rome Centre on Sunday 17 September, ready to commence the orientation session at 4pm.

Participants wishing to source their own accommodation should contact the tour leaders directly for the cost of the tour.

ACU students may be eligible for an OS-Help Loan of up to $6,470 to support the cost of travel and incidentals. Read more about available financial support.

Please be aware that prices may fluctuate depending on the strength of the Australian dollar.
