Conference map and orientation

The conference will be held at the Australian Catholic University Melbourne campus. The campus is located at the junction of Victoria Parade and Brunswick Street on the fringe of the Melbourne central business district, but also close to the food and retail strips of Brunswick and Smith Streets. Cafes, shops and art galleries are a short walk away, as are some of Melbourne's finest parks and gardens.

Visa and passport requirements for overseas registrations:

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival). The passport which you hold determines whether you can apply online, or if you need to lodge a paper based application.

European Union (EU) passport holders, and some other European passport holders, are eligible to apply individually online for an eVisitor visa to travel to and enter Australia.

eVisitor-eligible passports are citizen passports issued by the following countries:
Andorra; Austria; Belgium; Bulgaria; Croatia; Cyprus; Czech Republic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Iceland; Ireland; Italy; Latvia; Liechtenstein; Lithuania; Luxembourg; Malta; Monaco; The Netherlands; Norway; Poland; Portugal; Romania; Republic of San Marino; Slovak Republic; Slovenia; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; United Kingdom – British Citizen; Vatican City.
You are not eligible to apply for the eVisitor if your only passport is a British National Overseas, British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person or British Subject passport.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)
Passport holders from a number of countries are also eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (Subclass 601) to travel to and enter Australia.

Non-ETA countries
For non-ETA countries, visas are issued from Australian Embassies and Consulates nearest to you. We recommend you apply as early as possible.

A multi-level car park is located directly behind the main Australian Catholic University campus (marked as building 13 on the campus map). It is accessed via Young Street, from the Victoria Parade end only. Major credit cards accepted.

Short term metre parking is available around the campus in the wider local area.


Skybus is an airport bus that runs express between Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and Southern Cross Station in Melbourne’s city centre 24 hours, 7 days a week, with day departures every 10 minutes. A one-way ticket is $18; round-trip is $36.

Public Transport:
Visitors will need a Myki card to gain access to public transportation; Myki is the only accepted pass on trams, trains, and buses. Visitors to Melbourne can buy a special myki Visitor Value Pack to travel on the public transport network.  You can buy a myki Visitor Value Pack from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square, SkyBus terminals at Melbourne Airport and Southern Cross Station and from the Public Transport Victoria Hubs.  A myki Visitor Value Pack may also be available for purchase from the concierge desk at many hotels and accommodation providers. Ask at your hotel for the myki Visitor Value Pack.

Public Transport Victoria offers an online journey planner to help navigate from departure to arrival points throughout the city and the immediate region.

Taxi Cabs often wait in designated ranks that are clearly signposted at central locations like major hotels in the CBD, or busy spots such as Flinders Street Station. You can also hail a taxi in the street. if the rooftop light is illuminated, it means the taxi is available for hire – Telephone bookings are also available.  Use the fare estimator to work out what your trip is likely to cost. Melbourne cabs attract additional charges like a late night surcharge from midnight to 5am, a fee for phone bookings, a fee for using the Citylink freeway and even a fee for taxis waiting at the airport rank.

Things to do

There are a range of quality restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and shops nearby to the ACU campus, particularly in Gertrude St, Smith St and Brunswick St (Fitzroy).
