Business graduate Yasmin Rumjahn beat thousands of hopefuls and a gloomy Global Financial Crisis outlook to win one of two places in the Optus Graduate Development Program.
The North Sydney graduate spent two years rotating through the company’s marketing departments, and learning about the broader telecommunications industry.
Yasmin said it was the work experience component of her course which helped her bag the coveted position.
“Without the opportunity to gain practical experience during my course – through both extra-curricular activities at ACU and the real-world assessments we carried out – I doubt I would have been as prepared to enter the marketing industry,” she said.
“The interaction I had with staff at ACU was incredible. I received constant support and the theory components of my course were supported by lecturers who are in the industry, and brought practical knowledge to the classroom.”
