Senior lecturer in the School of Exercise Science at Australian Catholic University (Melbourne Campus) and researcher with a focus on hamstring strain injury. Dr David Opar completed his PhD at the Queensland University of Technology in the area of hamstring strain injuries. David leads the ACU Hamstring Injury Group and is in close consultation with professional sporting codes worldwide to deliver evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies for athletes.
This talk will focus on contemporary, evidence-based strategies for the prevention and rehabilitation of hamstring strain injury. From the perspective of prevention this will include how best to determine risk of future hamstring strain injury and what strategies can be implemented to mitigate this risk. With respect to rehabilitation strategies this talk will focus on the implementation of accelerated loading strategies following hamstring strain injury.
