The “Other 22-Hours” – Supporting Athlete Health and Performance

Collegiate athletes have to train frequently and train intensely to be the best. Of course, the student-athlete is also busy with school and the stresses of college life. The “other 22 hours” in an athlete’s day play a massive role in their capacity to recovery, adapt and thus perform when it counts. Supporting athlete health is paramount to success; being frequently sick is incompatible with elite performance, struggling with chronic digestive issues is a major roadblock to success and fighting through poor focus and cognition hinders mental health and performance. In this talk, Dr. Bubbs will discuss the evidence around immune, digestive and cognitive concerns in young athletes along with nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support the “Human First” paradigm of athlete health being crucial for performance.
