As with all courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences, professional education experience is embedded throughout the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and the Bachelor of Speech Pathology, commencing in first year and ultimately totalling over 1000 hours. In the fourth and final year, practical placements are a major component of both courses.
The Bachelor of Applied Public Health is also a practical course, providing opportunities for community-based experience locally, nationally and overseas. The course aims to prepare graduates for work across all sectors which have an impact on the health of populations. The degree is also an excellent platform for future specialised studies in Public Health and a career in research.
The School of Allied Health also offers a four-year full-time professional course in Social Work leading to the degree of Master of Social Work (MSW) accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
