Webinar: What makes a good measure?

Practitioners and researchers have so many measures to choose from - it can be difficult to understand where to start or what to use. Come to our webinar to learn more about measures that are reliable and valid.

When we have good measures, we can be confident that the results of evaluations or research studies are accurate.

This free webinar on Monday 25 March 2024 will present insights into the strengths and limitations of psychometric measures used in experimental research on institutional child maltreatments listed on the 2023 Evidence Gap Map. It will be presented by Research Officer and PhD candidate Gabby Hunt from Australian Catholic University; with Prof. Daryl Higgins as MC and Douglas Russell as Chair.

Gabby's presentation will take you through the analysis of measures examined through the lens of the themes below and their reliability and validity for a range of cultural settings:

  1. Institutional safeguarding practices
  2. Adult institutional care providers
  3. Child maltreatment disclosure
  4. Children's outcomes
  5. Adult perpetrators
  6. Child/youth offender maltreatment behaviours
  7. Parent/caregivers.
