Dr David Arnold

 Dr David ArnoldDr David Arnold is a Lecturer in Law at the Thomas More Law School at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). Prior to joining ACU, Dr Arnold taught at the University of South Australia, Latrobe University, Victoria University and RMIT across the disciplines of tort law, statutory interpretation, constitutional law and administrative law.

Dr Arnold commenced tertiary study in the discipline of biomedical science at Flinders University in 1997, receiving a Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation in 1998. He received his LLB (Hons) from the University of South Australia in 2012. He was awarded his PhD in Law at the University of South Australia in December 2018. The title of his thesis is Protecting Fundamental Common Law Rights: A Critical Analysis of the Role of the Principle of Legality in Australia.

Dr Arnold’s primary research interests lie in the areas of control of government action and the constitutional relationship between parliament and the courts as framed by the body of law known as statutory interpretation.
