New library and student accommodation open as thousands begin university journey at ACU

ACU will welcome more than 30,000 students, including more than 9800 commencing students, and 1400 international students with a lively calendar of exciting events across seven campuses this week.

Campuses will be packed with carnival-style food trucks, colourful stalls, and offer one-on-one meetings with student mentors and teaching staff, as well as sign up for self-help workshops on time management and achieving academic success.

The Opening and Blessing of the new library at ACU Blacktown, as well as the official Blessing of the state-of-the-art studio apartments purposely built for ACU Canberra students will coincide with ACU’s Welcome events.

A further 600 students have enrolled to undertake studies for their degree through ACU Online.

ACU Vice-Chancellor and President Zlatko Skrbis extended a warm welcome to commencing and continuing students with ACU and ACU Online as well as new and returning international students.

“ACU is excited to welcome our newest students and throughout their learning journey, provide them with all the opportunities to become future world leaders filled empathy, wisdom and courage,” Professor Skrbis said.

“Our students can expect to learn and grow within our world class facilities, including a new library for Blacktown and state-of-the-art accommodation in Canberra, for the full student experience.

“ACU is the perfect place to develop life-long friendships and explore new ways of thinking, and I am confident that our new students will thrive personally and professionally.”
