EDAR518 Visual Arts Curriculum and Teaching 3
This unit provides opportunities to study curriculum issues and teaching and learning strategies related to visual arts practice. A variety of curriculum models from local, national and international contexts will be examined in terms of their representation of art practice, research and the role of the teacher. Critical evaluation of a range of historical and contemporary approaches to program design, assessment and teaching practice provides a means of exploring debates within ideological contexts of visual arts education and implications for art making practice. Similarly the impact of visual arts and design education in the context of museums, public and community art and new forms of visual research, visual analysis and image-making upon visual arts curriculum practice form part of the studies in the unit.
