We encourage our pre-service teachers to participate in professional experience programs based in rural and remote locations, including overseas locations. This offers students exposure to the experience of teaching in diverse settings – often those with comparatively different cultural, educational and linguistic characteristics.
Undergraduate study tours
Teach and learn in Vanuatu
Travel to Vanuatu as part of your professional experience placement. You’ll spend two weeks teaching and working at Arep School in the province of Torba; an area with low economic development and limited infrastructure.
Develop curriculum in Solomon Islands
Engage fully in local life as you take part in a challenging four weeks of teaching, working with limited resources in a very different cultural environment. You’ll learn about culture, life, communication and education in the Solomon Islands.
Community engagement in Kiribati, Nepal and South Africa
Be fully immersed in local culture on a community engagement experience in Kiribati, Nepal or South Africa. You’ll form relationships with local students, teachers and other community members and take part in a range of cultural and professional activities.
Postgraduate study overseas
We offer students enrolled in a postgraduate masters level course the opportunity to study units in Italy and the United Kingdom.
