St Vincent de Paul Society - Broken Bay Central Council Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarships

About this scholarship

Established in 2005 and sponsored by the Broken Bay Central Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society, this scholarship aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates in professional fields who have the potential and desire to influence better choices, lifestyle and living conditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • The scholarship is valued at up to $6,750, paid in $2,250 instalments for the duration of the recipients’ course, for a maximum of three years.
  • There are three scholarships available.

  • Citizenship: Australian citizens
  • Target group: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Faculty: Education and Arts
  • Course: ACU Education degree
  • Campus: North Sydney or Strathfield
  • Year level: any

Application process

  • Apply online by clicking the button below and completing the application form. You must attach the following documentation with your application:
  • A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining:
    • Why have you chosen to undertake your degree?
    • What do you hope to achieve with it in the future?
    • How will obtaining your degree allow you to give back to your community?

Selection process

Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office, in consultation with the First Peoples and Equity Pathways Directorate, and recipients selected by the donor.

Ongoing requirements

Recipients are requested to submit a letter of appreciation for the donor explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October each year.
