Events and fundraising

Communications

Our Team works collaboratively with all the portfolios to:

  • manage all the society’s social media platforms;
  • work with the other portfolios to design fun and engaging marketing plans for our events,
  • develop useful resources for ACU law students; and
  • ensure ACU law students are aware of the society’s beneficial events and resources.

The Communications Team encourages all students to follow our Facebook (@stpatrickslss), LinkedIn (‘St Patrick’s Law Students’ Society’) and Instagram (@stpatrickslss) platforms to have up-to-date information about our initiatives.

Competitions

The Competitions Portfolio runs all internal competitions as well all external competitions the law faculty engages in. Our team of four is dedicated to providing as many opportunities as possible for SPLSS members to apply their legal knowledge while developing advocacy and written skills.

In 2019, we are running a total of 10 internal competitions and engaging in 5 external competitions. We run competitions across all year levels and strongly encouraged first years to compete by running competitions such as the First Year's Paper Writing Competitions and First Timer's Moot.

Events and fundraising

As the representatives of the Events & Fundraising Portfolio, we seek to produce valued events and beneficial fund raises for the benefit of our students. In doing so, we add vibrancy to university culture and are consistently enriching the lives of students on campus.

In 2019, we held our annual Law Ball and the newly established "Welcome Back to Uni" celebrations, in conjunction with numerous fundraising opportunities.

Professional development

The aim of the Professional Development portfolio is to provide students with opportunities to gain insight into potential educational and career pathways within the law.

The Professional Development portfolio is responsible for organising events and initiatives that will encourage engagement from students with the legal profession, and learn where a law degree can take them. In 2019 we have hosted the most amount of events since the portfolio’s inception; Careers Fair, Clerkship Workshops, Mock Interviews, Panels etc.

Wellbeing and equity

The Wellbeing and Equity Portfolio aims to provide students at ACU with the tools and skills necessary to maintain a healthy and positive lifestyle whilst completing studies.

In 2019, we hosted a variety of events which were aimed at encouraging positive study habits and general wellbeing in the form of information panels and Yoga & Yogurt. We strive to promote community initiatives for students to participate in, including blood donations and homelessness awareness.
