ACU Project Management Model
The University is committed to the adoption of a standard approach to project management that reflects the Mission and Values of the University and the consistent use of project management procedures and templates to facilitate the implementation of strategic priorities.
The key components of the ACU Project Management Model are:
Project Management Policy
Project Management Procedure
The Project Management Procedure defines the processes that are performed throughout the life of a project to ensure the efficient and effective management of projects.
Project Management Templates
- Business Case (DOC, 46KB)
- Project Initiation Document (DOC, 132KB)
- Post-Implementation Review Report (DOC, 44KB)
Project Sizing Guidelines
The size of a project is defined as being small, medium or large. The Project Sizing Guidelines provide guidance in determining the size of a project.
A Project Register is maintained for medium and large projects to increase understanding of the scope of project work undertaken by the University. The Register has been established to assist staff to develop project management knowledge. Project Sponsors and Project Managers are encouraged to record and update project information on the Register.
Project Management Lifecycle
This document outlines the major phases of a project and the core template that meets the minimum requirement for documentation in each phase. It also lists the recommended supporting documents for medium and large projects.
Project Management Community of Practice
The PM CoP is a community of people who meet and share the practice and passion of project management across ACU. The intent of PM CoP is to develop and share collective knowledge about project management and in the interests of continual improvement. It aims to provide a forum that will guide and support staff with varying levels of familiarity with the functionality of the Project Management Model and its underlying principles, with a view to building project management capability across all areas of the University.
