Mehdi is currently researching how exercise and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) affect circulating metabolic signatures. The aim of his thesis is to utilize transgenic mouse models and metabolomics to investigate metabolic pathways regulated during exercise and determine the influence of AMPK and its nutrient interactions on metabolites underlying exercise and metabolic homeostasis.
Mehdi is supervised by Professor John Hawley and Drs. Nolan Hoffman and Jamie Whitfield.
