PhD Candidate
Exercise and Nutrition Research Program
Marcus is a Phd Candidate currently studying “Anabolic and metabolic effects of high intensity interval training and protein supplementation”. His thesis will investigate the metabolic and anabolic effects of 6 weeks of HIIT with protein supplementation in sedentary middle-aged men.
In doing so, molecular and whole body techniques that assess skeletal muscle size and mass will be used to identify mechanisms that underpin the potential anabolic responses of this exercise-nutrient intervention. Additionally, this thesis will also examine the effect of a 2-week period of exercise cessation (detraining) on overall muscle health responses.
Marcus’ supervisors are Professor John Hawley and Dr Donny Camera. Dr Evelyn Parr is also his associate supervisor.
