Lana received her BA (Hons) from Monash University and is a PhD candidate in Medieval and Early Modern Studies at the Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry (Faculty of Theology and Philosophy). She has a particular interest in the use of language and ideas in intellectual communities in the fifteenth century, and their implications on contemporary religious culture.

Her PhD thesis, Theologia Ficiniana: Intellectual Exchange and Spiritual Renewal in Late Quattrocento Florence, is supervised by Professor Peter Howard and Dr Emmanuel Nathan.
