Thesis: Development of a Practical Model for Coaches to Use Mental Skills Training to Enhance Psychological Strengths for Athletes
This thesis proposes that psychological strengths such as mental toughness, self-concept, flow, and life effectiveness can improve as a result of a structured mental skills training (MST) program. More precisely, it is anticipated that an improvement in mental skills will occur as a consequence of exposure to the MST program, and that this improvement will in turn improve psychological strengths. This research will explore the effect of MST program on these outcomes, and examine the directionality of the associations between participation in a mental skill training program, mental skills, and important outcomes related to psychological strengths (ie mental toughness, self-concept, life effectiveness, and flow).
