The Why Choose Teaching report is an empirical study of what Queensland teachers have to say about the factors affecting their choice of teaching as a first or subsequent career. The report provides stakeholders with new information about specific drivers for choosing teaching and points to the need for targeted recruitment strategies. The report provides new strategies to stem the country’s impending teacher drought. It presents information that shows teachers are largely satisfied with their choice to enter the teaching profession. The study shows that teachers attach high value to their role in shaping the future of children and adolescents.

The Queensland College of Teachers have accepted the final report, released 17 July 2017.
