Having studied a bachelor degree in early childhood education at Kenyatta University in Kenya, Timothy proceeded to Europe where he pursued an International Master in Early Childhood Education and Care (IMEC). This is an Erasmus Mundus programme that is funded by the European Union to allow students from developing countries to gain an understanding of developed systems of early childhood education around the world so that they can help initiate reforms when they return home. During his time in Europe, he studied in different countries: Norway (Oslo and Akershus University College), Sweden (Gothenburg University), Republic of Ireland (Dublin Institute of Technology) and Malta (University of Malta). He later enrolled at the University of Oslo in Norway to pursue a Master of Philosophy in Higher Education.
Early in his career, Timothy worked as a kindergarten teacher, a primary school teacher and later as a teacher trainer in Kenya. More recently he worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Oslo coordinating colloquium groups for the first year masters students. Within ILSTE, Timothy has a dual focus working as a Research Assistant on a range of research projects in the Early Childhood Futures research concentration, and as a doctoral candidate investigating Joint Media Engagement practices in home environments.
