Joseph Zajda, BA (Hons.), MA, M.Ed. Ph.D. (Monash University) is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Arts at the Australian Catholic University (Melbourne Campus). He specializes in globalisation and education reforms, history education, human rights education and curriculum reforms. He has written and edited 48 books (mainly for Springer, the Netherlands) and over 150 book chapters and articles in the areas of globalization and education reforms, history education, and social justice and human rights education.
He edits World Studies in Education, Curriculum and Teaching, and Education and Society for James Nicholas Publishers. His works are found in 568 publications in 4 languages and 11,195 university library holdings globally. He was awarded the 2012 Peter Sheehan Excellence in Research Award (Faculty of Education, ACU), Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (Australian Awards for University Teaching — July 2011), and Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (ACU). He was also awarded an ARC Discovery Grant ($315,000) Globalising studies of the politics of history education: a comparative analysis of history national curriculum implementation in Russia and Australia (with A. Taylor, Monash University, 2011-2013). Elected as Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (June 2013).
