EFTSL value of units : All 10cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a credit point (cp) value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

Domestic Students

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must:

  1. be 18 years or over by the census date of the first relevant study period of enrolment
  2. have not achieved an adequate Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent for entry to ACU;
  3. have not completed other eligible qualifications that meet the minimum entry requirements for entry to ACU.

International Students

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must:

  1. have completed the equivalent of year 11 (completion of senior high school in countries where this is not considered equivalent to an Australian year 12). Refer to the minimum academic entry requirement by country ;
  2. have a minimum English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 with no individual band lees than 5, or equivalent. Applicants whose intended undergraduate degree requires an English proficiency level of IELTS 7 or above, must have a minimum English proficiency level of IELTS 6 with no individual band less than 6, or equivalent OR at least one full-time year of study of an Australian secondary or tertiary qualification at AQF Diploma level or higher.   3. Additional instructions for international studies under 18 years of age.

Completion requirements

To qualify for course completion, students must pass:

  1. nine specified units (Part A or Part B)
  2. two elective units (Part C)

To qualify for entry to an ACU diploma or undergraduate degree:

  1. Students must meet the Grade Point Average for entry to their intended diploma or undergraduate degree
  2. International students must also meet the English language proficiency requirement for their intended degree.


Course structure

Total number of Hours: 720

Breakdown of Hours required to complete the course:

  • 620 hours in Specified Units; and
  • 100 hours in Elective Units

The cohorts are taught separately.

Progression requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator. 

Supplementary Assessment is not available in this course.
