Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

International applicants must also meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

  1. Bachelor degree in Education; or a Bachelor degree and a recognised teaching qualification; or
  2. Bachelor degree in an area other than Education.

Completion requirements

Students admitted under Admission Requirement A:

Pathway 1 (120 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Education, a student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 50 cp from 600-level Education Units (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from Electives (Part B);
  3. 30 cp from Capstone Units (Part D).


Pathway 2 (120 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Education with a named specialisation in:

  • Autism Spectrum Studies
  • Career Development
  • Inclusive Practice
  • Integrated STEM
  • Leading Learning
  • Literacy Intervention (cohorts only)
  • Mathematics
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People
  • Student Wellbeing
  • TESOL

a student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 10 cp from 600-level Education Units (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from one Specialisation group (Part C);
  3. 40 cp from Electives (Part B);
  4. 30 cp from Capstone units (The Capstone must be in the specialisation) (Part D).


Pathway 3 (120 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Education with a named specialisation in Allied School Psychology (cohorts only), a student must complete 120 cp consisting of:

  1. 10 cp from 600-level Education Units (Part A);
  2. 60 cp from Allied School Psychology Specialisation group (Part E);
  3. 20 cp from Electives (Part B);
  4. 30 cp from Capstone units (The Capstone must be in Allied School Psychology) (Part D).


Students admitted under Admission Requirement B:

Pathway 4 (160 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Education, a student must complete 160 cp consisting of:

  1. 90 cp from 600-level Education units (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from Electives (Part B);
  3. 30 cp from Capstone units (Part D).

Exit points

A student who has completed 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings may exit with the Graduate Certificate in Education.

A student who has completed 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings may exit with the Graduate Diploma in Education.
