Assistant Director, ACU Centre for Liturgy

Dr Paul Taylor (MA Liturgy [UND], MMus, PhD [ACU]) is currently Assistant Director of the ACU Centre for Liturgy and Organist and Director of Music at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo, VIC.  From 2012 until 2022, he served as Executive Secretary of the ACBC Bishops Commission for Liturgy and of the National Liturgical Council before joining ACU in 2023. He has served in Melbourne Archdiocesan agencies as a liturgist and musician since 1993, worked as a choir member and organist in a number of Melbourne parishes. His doctoral dissertation (2010) explored the ministerial and congregational singing of chant. Paul’s professional responsibilities include organ accompaniment, choral training, editing and online formation. 

His interests in liturgical music included membership of the editorial committee of Catholic Worship Book II (2016) and a term as Organist and Director of Music at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne (2015-2019).
