Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) is an evidence-based program for the treatment of eating disorders. CBT-E is a talking therapy focusing on eating behaviours and factors maintaining eating, weight and shape concerns (e.g., body image, self-esteem). Following referral, clients will attend two free assessment appointments (90 mins) to determine eligibility for CBT-E. CBT-E is conducted over 20 sessions (50 mins). Sessions are scheduled twice per week for the first 6 weeks, then once per week for 10 weeks, and fortnightly for the final 2 sessions. A follow-up session is conducted 20 weeks after the end of treatment.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for clients who engage in binge eating, but do not regularly use compensatory behaviours (e.g., fasting, purging). It is also used with clients who feel that their eating is out of control and/or who eat for emotional reasons (e.g., boredom, stress, sadness). CBT is a time-limited and focused therapy that helps clients understand how their thinking and negative self-image can impact how they feel so as to improve their eating behaviours. Following referral, clients will attend two free assessment appointments (90 mins) to determine eligibility for CBT. CBT is conducted over 10 – 15 sessions (50 mins). Sessions are scheduled weekly initially and fortnightly or monthly towards the end of treatment. A follow-up session is conducted 20 weeks after the end of treatment.
Behavioural family intervention is an evidence-based approach to helping parents prevent and treat child and adolescent behavioural and emotional difficulties. This approach can be used in combination with the Division of Responsibility in Feeding (Satter) approach to help parents implement strategies to reduce mealtime difficulties and assist their child to eat the amount and variety of food they need to be healthy and grow well. Following referral, families will attend one or two free assessment appointments (60-90 mins) to determine eligibility for the program. Treatment is conducted in 50 min sessions, the length of treatment depends on the needs of the family. Sessions are scheduled weekly initially and fortnightly or monthly towards the end of treatment. A follow-up session is conducted 20 weeks after the end of treatment.
