Story Factory visit schools and community organisations right across Sydney and Western Sydney, working with young people on term-length creative writing programs to develop their literacy skills and help them find their voices. Our paid storytelling staff plan, develop and deliver the workshops, and our amazing team of volunteers act as mentors to small groups of students within those workshops, helping them to express their thoughts and create a published piece of writing.
Volunteers will be mentoring small groups (usually 1-5, occasionally larger) of primary and/or secondary school students. They do so under the guidance and support of our Storytelling staff.
In various schools and community organisations right across Sydney. Some examples include (but are not limited to): Redfern, Parramatta, Blacktown, Mt Druitt, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Auburn, Bankstown, Toongabbie, Telopea.
Programs all run weekdays, from Monday to Friday. Times vary, but can happen anywhere from 8:30am-5pm. Most programs run for around 1-3 hours per week, usually on the same day each week.
