One Meal – It Makes a Difference is a not-for-profit community organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless and underprivileged. One Meal provides nutritious meals weekly to those in need in several locations across Sydney, including Ambarvale, Blacktown, Darlinghurst, Manly, Riverwood, and Sutherland Shire. One Meal Medical operates alongside One Meal’s meal services at Manly and Sutherland and offers patrons a free, basic, non-judgemental medical health service.
You have the opportunity to undertake a project to support the expansion of the One Meal Medical service to other meal service locations in Sydney. Volunteers can work individually or as a group to undertake a project to assess how One Meal may best expand their medical service to additional meal service locations so that a greater number of One Meal’s patrons can receive a free, basic medical health service. Volunteers will visit One Meal’s existing medical service/s and will produce a report that considers what is working well in the medical services and which recommends the kinds of resources and activities that would be required if One Meal Medical was expanded to other service locations.
Work will be conducted at One Meal’s office in Woolloomooloo. Volunteers will also need to visit existing medical service location/s at meal service times, other community programs and liaise with the One Meal Board in establishing guidelines and targets.
Individual or small group.
1 day a week day over several weeks and attendance at some meal service locations on Sundays to observe One Meal Medical operations.
All volunteers are required to hold a current and valid Working With Children Check.
