Your Side Australia is a leading provider of support services for older people, people living with a disability or mental health condition and their carers across Sydney. Friendship Space brings together people aged 50 and older who may be feeling isolated to meet and connect with their local community members over morning tea. It is held every Tuesday and Thursday in an easy-to-access dedicated space within local shopping centres.
The Friendship Space program aims to ensure that participants:
During the free meetups, Your Side staff and volunteers will engage participants in creative activities, games, raffles and discussing topics of interest.
Volunteers are needed to support event coordination, 1:1 social engagement at meetups and support with storytelling, running information sessions etc.
This opportunity is suited to students with strong people skills, who are approachable and friendly. Volunteers must demonstrate a genuine caring and compassionate attitude and a passion for working with people with a disability, older people or those experiencing marginalisation or disadvantage.
