Roundabout Canberra is a registered charity, run by a group of local volunteers. Our aim is to provide women and families experiencing hardship in Canberra and the surrounding regions with essential items and equipment to ensure the safety of their babies. We work directly with social workers and social service agencies to help individuals and families in need. We allow the services we assist to focus on their core business support them by ensuring that essential items are available in great condition for their clients.
We have a range of volunteer roles:
Tinkers: these volunteers love to bring items back to life. They reinvigorate donated prams, cots, car seats, highchairs and bassinets to ensure they meet mandatory safety standards, and turn them into like new gifts for new families.
Clothing and linen packers; these volunteers sort donated clothing and linen and make them up into beautiful packs for their new owners.
Toy checkers: these volunteers sort and check toys to ensure they’re clean and safe. They then make them into packs to go out to families in need.
Admin wizards: we have a range of admin-related tasks that we’d love a hand with. If you have skills and knowledge to share, we’d love to hear from you.
We require our volunteers to sign and adhere to a code of conduct, which includes following safe work practices and ensuring the privacy of the families we are assisting.
