Rossbourne School is an independent secondary school catering for students with additional needs who do not meet the criteria for a special school but still require a more supported environment than a mainstream school may be able to provide. Students who attend have a range of developmental or mental health issues such as, for example, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Severe Language Disorder, Specific Learning Difficulties, mild cognitive impairment.

Students select a Friday Activity from a range of activities on offer. The activities reflect the passion/interest of the staff members who run them or areas of known interest for students. Some examples of activities currently on offer are: sports experiences, exploring the suburbs/city, photography, art, creative writing, and Lego. The activities can change each semester and year depending on staff expertise and interest.

The role

The role would involve helping run one of the activities (you get to choose which one). This could be school-based or involve taking a group out locally or using public transport. We are always looking for new ideas so if you have a particular passion or talent that you could offer we would be happy to consider starting up an activity in that area. Teaching staff are allocated to each activity and are responsible for the group.

No particular experience is required, just an interest in interacting with young adults. Our students will get value out of meeting and making connections with you.
