One Meal – It Makes a Difference is a not-for-profit community organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless and underprivileged. One Meal provides nutritious meals weekly to those in need in several locations across Sydney, including Ambarvale, Blacktown, Darlinghurst, Manly, Riverwood, and Sutherland Shire. One Meal Medical operates at two of the meal service locations and offers patrons a free, basic, non-judgemental medical health service. One Meal relies on the generous support of its current partner organisations to make its impact in the wider community. One Meal’s ambitions to serve a greater number of people who are experiencing disadvantage and underprivilege will be supported by growth in their partnership network. This community engagement placement provides you with the opportunity to undertake a group research project to aid the expansion of One Meal’s external partnerships.
The group will work on a project to research potential partner organisations that can be of support to One Meal in one or more areas, such as its meal or medical service. Students will translate their research findings into a database for One Meal.
This opportunity is open to c. 2-4 students who will form one group to work on the project over several weeks.
All volunteers are required to hold a current and valid Working With Children Check.
At One Meal’s office in Woolloomooloo. There may be opportunity to complete some work at university.
Each student in the group will complete 4-5 hours per week (on weekdays between the hours of 9am-5pm). Days per week will be confirmed with the students’ nominated supervisor.
