Program description

One Meal – It Makes a Difference is a not-for-profit community organisation that helps to feed, clothe and support the homeless and underprivileged. One Meal provides nutritious meals weekly to those in need in several locations across Sydney. This community engagement placement provides you with the opportunity to build capacity within the One Meal organisation by assisting with accounting tasks in the One Meal office and by participating in their meal service at relevant location/s in Sydney.

Position description

The students will undertake accounting tasks at the direction of their nominated supervisor. The students will also serve meals to those who are underprivileged and/or sleeping rough at meal service location/s run by One Meal. Students may also assist with the set-up and clean-up of the meal service.

This opportunity is open to c. 1 or 2 students who can provide accounting support of 1 to 2 hours a week over several weeks and who are available to attend meal services.

Position requirements

All volunteers are required to hold a current and valid Working With Children Check.


Accounting support will occur at the One Meal office in Woolloomooloo. There may be an opportunity to complete some work at university.  

Meal service locations are:

Green Park, Darlinghurst
301 Victoria Street
Darlinghurst NSW 2010

Dates and times

1-2 hours a week (scheduled between the hours of 9am-5pm) on weekdays for accounting support. The meal services run at the following times. Days for participation in the meal service will be arranged with the students’ nominated supervisor.

Green Park, Darlinghurst
Saturdays, 6:45pm to 8:15pm
