For 2020, Layers for Lent is included in our Giving from Home initiative.

We can't collect donations the way we usually would right now, but there is still a need within the community. You can give from home by playing Donation Bingo which allows us to continue our support of those experiencing marginalisation or disadvantage in our communities, whilst maintaining the health of everyone.

During Lent, ACU Engagement and Campus Ministry collect winter clothing for those in need in our local communities. Each campus partners with a local community organisation to ensure our donations meet the specific needs of the community.

Our 2019 collection was a huge success with more than 1570 items donated across our campuses. Goods included warm coats, jumpers, long pants, beanies, gloves, socks, sleeping bags and blankets.

Our community partners for 2019 were:

  • Catholic Parish of St Canice, Elizabeth Bay NSW
  • Concord Baptist Church, North Strathfield, NSW
  • Asylum Seekers Welcome Centre, Brunswick, VIC
  • St Vincent de Paul Society Ballarat, VIC
  • Blind Eye Ministries, South Brisbane, QLD
  • St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn, ACT

Thank you to the staff and students at North Sydney, Strathfield, Canberra, Brisbane, Ballarat and Melbourne who donated goods to help those less fortunate feel warmer this winter.
